In this Carnegie St residence in Melbourne, modern minimalism meets warm texture in perfect harmony. The Carnegie St. Residence Chiefly project by DCR Joinery centres on a signature fluted timber kitchen island, combined with full-home custom cabinetry, creating a space that is both highly functional and elevated for everyday family living.
Step into the kitchen and the eye is immediately drawn to the flowing fluted timber island, paired with matte white cabinetry and marble surfaces — clean, refined, yet inviting. The kitchen is the visual heart of the home. A large marble island and matching backdrop create a powerful dialogue of veining; countertop and vertical surfaces feel almost continuous, delivering a clean, uninterrupted look. Dark oak cabinetry uses restrained vertical lines and handle-less detailing to conceal storage, appliances and structure—keeping function high while letting the stone remain the star.
Bedrooms and other spaces follow the same logic. Rounded-edge wardrobes soften hard corners and add quiet warmth to the modern aesthetic. Proportions, colour and grain remain consistent throughout, creating true whole-house cohesion rather than a collection of separate pieces.
DCR Joinery delivered more than manufacturing. From spatial understanding and material selection through refined detailing to precise installation, the process was complete. The result is a home that shows refined quality while serving real daily life.
The hardest part of full-house custom is not making it—it is getting it right: materials, proportions, and lifestyle. Tavistock Rd. Residence proves it is possible.
